STUDENTS ENGAGE IN SUSTAINABILITY AT MIM CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS EVENT
On 10 July 2024, six students attended the “MIM Crucial Conversations” event themed “Shared Responsibility, Shared Future: Uniting Stakeholders to Co-Create a Greener Malaysia,” organised by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) at the Hilton PJ Hotel. These students, Paul Carlos Kerk Barot, Saahil Wasim Mollah, Jayaganesh A/L Palanisamy, Shah Putera Haikal Bin Khairul Anuar, Ajai Viyash A/L Kumaran, and Raajpriyaan A/L Gobi, gained valuable insights into sustainability practices.
The event began with a keynote address by YB Nik Nazmi Bin Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, titled “Small Steps, Big Impact, Greening the Grassroots: Empowering SMEs For Sustainable Transformation.” This session provided practical advice on sustainable practices for SMEs and included an interactive Q&A session. Subsequent sessions included “Resilient Cities, Resilient Futures – Building Climate-Resilient Communities” and “Corporate Leadership in ESG – Setting the Standard for Responsible Business Practices.” These discussions emphasized the importance of climate resilience and responsible business practices.
Ajai Viyash A/L Kumaran, a Foundation in Business Administration student, reflected on his experience, noting the importance of conservation efforts for the Malayan tiger and the promotion of sustainable practices like adopting electric vehicles. He highlighted the event’s impact on his understanding of environmental issues and the urgency of addressing them.
Overall, the event was a success, providing participants with the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, expand their knowledge on sustainability, and contribute towards a greener Malaysia.
